Sea World

Today, we visited Sea World just for the fun of it. Anna really enjoyed watching the Shamu (killer whales) and the dolphins performing. There was also a toddler area based on Sesame Street and Anna had a lot fun riding the rides. There was also a giant playground including net climbing, slides, and a trampoline. Leah went on the roller coaster and the river rafting ride with daddy. They were both soaking wet after that. We also watched an acrobatic performance performed over the bay. But all in all, we had a great time. (Note: Anna was drawing by herself tonight and she wrote an "A" telling me it was "Anna". We are so amazed!)

Camping

For the Memorial Day long weekend, we went camping with two of our college classmates and their families. We have been camping with them for over 5 years throughout Southern California, and we go several times a year during long weekends. Anna had a lot of fun playing outdoors and hiking; it was her first camping trip, and everyone enjoyed seeing her. Anna also had a lot of fun playing in the wild.

Blowing bubbles

Reading a book with daddy
Anna enjoyed playing in our backyard before daddy and Leah came home from ice skating. She laughed loudly while blowing and chasing the bubbles. She also had fun jumping up and down on the trampoline. She is such a happy girl!

Having fun at the beach

A big hug on Mother's Day

Though we only live one mile away from the ocean, it was the first time that we brought Anna to the beach. She enjoyed playing there, but she was also afraid of the waves. Once when the waves came, she was trying to run away, but she was not fast enough and fell into the water, soaking her clothes. After that, she stayed far away from the ocean. We asked her on our way home if she had fun and she said: “No, I fell in the water.”

One month home

One month home

On the day we met her
It has been exactly a month since we returned home with Anna. This month went by so fast, yet it already feels like she has been with us forever. Six weeks ago on a Monday, a shy little girl walked into the Civil Affairs office in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. She had never seen us before, and when she met us that day, she seemed timid and a little frightened. She did not want anything to do with us when her nanny had to leave. She cried so sadly and wanted to escape from us while I was holding onto her. We, on the other hand, had seen pictures and videos of her and had fallen in love with her for six months already even though we had never met her. Now, this same little girl doesn’t want to be away from us. It is becoming difficult to remember what our life was like without her.
